Finding high quality examples of this condition-sensitive set is a challenge. Printed on a lower-quality cardboard than its Goudey contemporary, these cards are also notoriously difficult to find without damage and without major centering problems. However, high-quality examples of these cards are among the most attractive and distinctive from the 1930s. Here, then, is one of the finest examples of this elusive set available in the hobby. All 24 cards in this set have been graded by SGC - the toughest grading company for vintage cards. And all but six of these cards have received NRMT or NRMT+ designations. Except for some modest centering problems, you will have a hard time figuring out why those six did not grade at NRMT -- and some of the NRMT+ cards are strong candidates for upgrading (several of these cards, including the Gehrig, were graded NM/MT by another major grading company before I decided to bring all the cards under a single grading company). Breakdown of set as follows: SGC 86 (Terry, Cochrane,Gehrig, Urbanksi, Traynor, Stepehenson and Hafey); SGC 84 (McManus, Cuyler, O'Doul, Lindstrom, Gomez, Martin, Dykes, Foxx, Klein, Grove and Goslin); SGC 80 (Melillo); SGC 70 (Maranville and Warneke); SGC 60 (Simmons and Gehringer); SGC 50 (Vosmik).
PRICE: $35,000.
